Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ahmad Holcomb!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Alex Masuku!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, William Gold and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holcomb tries to clinch up
and Masuku counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Ahmad Holcomb has been cut.
Holcomb connects with a leg kick. Masuku looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Holcomb closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Holcomb lands in his opponent's guard.
Holcomb trying to control the position from guard on top but Masuku is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Holcomb working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Holcomb preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Holcomb has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Masuku is controlling Holcomb's posture.
Masuku tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Masuku with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Holcomb on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Masuku. Masuku obviously looking to wear him down.
Masuku looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masuku drops Holcomb with a beautiful combination! Holcomb stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Masuku is looking for the KO!
Holcomb is rocked!
Alex Masuku is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Masuku lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Holcomb up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Masuku from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Holcomb's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alex Masuku!
