Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Lazzarotte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Afghan Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lazzarotte manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Alves stands up from Lazzarotte's guard - Alves perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lazzarotte dives in and grabs Alves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alves pushes down on Lazzarotte's head and hops out.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lazzarotte is defended easily by Alves.
Alves has a takedown stuffed.
Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alves displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lazzarotte.

Lazzarotte shoots in looking for a takedown. Alves tries to sprawl out of it but Lazzarotte keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alves manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Alves escapes and gets back to his feet.
Alves fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Lazzarotte looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Horrible takedown attempt by Lazzarotte or perhaps it was just good defense by Alves, which made it look bad.
Alves fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lazzarotte throws a nice looking combination but Alves bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Alves doesn't manage to clinch there - Lazzarotte circles away.

Lazzarotte takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Lazzarotte avoids a kick to the body.
Alves shoots for a takedown but Lazzarotte saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Alves counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Alves rushes Lazzarotte and presses him up against the cage.

Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lazzarotte circles away.
Alves looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lazzarotte tries to counter with a takedown but Alves is quick to defend against it.

and Alves counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Alves gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lazzarotte.
Lazzarotte is breathing heavily.
Lazzarotte is pressed up against the cage. Alves has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lazzarotte down to the mat. Lazzarotte avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Alves pushes Lazzarotte up against the cage in a clinch.
Lazzarotte wants a takedown.

Alves manages to break the clinch.
Lazzarotte misses with a low kick as Alves jumps back.
Lazzarotte stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lazzarotte wants it to stay on the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alves.
Lazzarotte swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Lazzarotte moves into the clinch successfully.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Alves.
Lazzarotte tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Lazzarotte misses with a knee strike.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Lazzarotte is looking to take this one to the mat.
Alves working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Alves can't break the clinch.

Lazzarotte escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Afghan Alves dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lazzarotte.
Lazzarotte fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And Alves tries to counter it with a takedown but Lazzarotte pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Alves doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Lazzarotte counters by clinching up.

Lazzarotte breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lazzarotte changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alves tries to avoid it but Lazzarotte manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alves to the ground. Alves escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brandon Lazzarotte. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lazzarotte throws a head kick that half lands.
Alves connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Lazzarotte tumbling to the canvas! Alves pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Lazzarotte was done - good stoppage!
