Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Williams!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams scores with a takedown into Duffy's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duffy trying to keep a closed guard but Williams is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Duffy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Williams rushes Duffy and presses him up against the cage.
Williams stops a takedown attempt from Duffy.

Duffy is looking to take this one to the mat.

Williams has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Duffy is trying to keep an underhook but Williams manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Williams is taking a breather. Duffy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Duffy manages to get to full guard.
Williams wants to control from the top but Duffy keeps moving.

Williams slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Williams's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Duffy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Williams is pulling down on Duffy's head. It's preventing any offense from Duffy, at least for the moment.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Duffy seems to be looking for submissions.
Duffy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Duffy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Williams tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Duffy is trying to work for a kimura but Williams is defending well.

Duffy is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Williams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Duffy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth.

Williams is trying to maintain the position but Duffy is very close to passing his half guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Duffy looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sol Duffy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Williams closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Duffy quickly recovers to half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Duffy wants to control but Williams is keeping busy.
Williams perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Duffy misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Williams unleashes a big counter combination but Duffy bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Williams slaps away a takedown attempt from Duffy, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Duffy gets caught flat footed, as Williams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Williams controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
