PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Foster Hester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Troy Bane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Troy Bane will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hester tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bane sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hester somewhat.
Hester takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Bane connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Bane shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hester manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Bane keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Hester tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bane has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hester is trying to keep an underhook but Bane manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Hester might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bane is pressing down on Hester's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hester is holding on for now.

Hester won't allow Bane to pass to mount.
Bane is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hester is staying active underneath Bane, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Bane is looking to stall here but Hester recovers full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bane trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hester has control of Bane's left arm, preventing Bane from doing any damage.
Bane tries to free his leg and advance position but Hester is retaining full guard.
Bane working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Bane sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hester's guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Bane throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bane with the ground and pound but Hester uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Bane slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Bane is looking to take a break and control but Hester is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hester is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Bane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hester. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hester keeps Bane under control for a moment.
Hester could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hester keeps working.

Hester is trying to get back to his feet.
Bane wants to control for a moment but Hester uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bane trying to advance position but Hester counters by regaining guard.
Hester looking for a sweep. Not yet Hester, not yet.
Bane wants to pass the guard but Hester is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Hester manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Bane has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Bane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hester crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Bane - the referee stops the clock and Hester gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Bane. Hester manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Bane drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Bane looks winded!
Hester can't do much from the bottom here.
Bane moves into full mount!
Bane lands a big shot there that rocks Hester but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Troy Bane dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Foster Hester's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Bane misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bane tries a head kick but it misses.
Hester moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bane pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Bane looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hester!
Hester parries the strikes from Bane easily there. Bane is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hester to escape.
Hester prevents Bane from moving into mount.
Hester tries to strike but it doesn't land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bane wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hester keeps working.

Hester explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Bane is breathing heavily.
Hester connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hester takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hester shoots in looking for a takedown. Bane tries to sprawl out of it but Hester keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Bane has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bane is trying to break free.

Hester's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bane throws a leg kick but Hester sees it coming and moves out of range.
Bane pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hester feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Hester throws a sloppy head kick and Bane moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bane scores with a nice right hand.
Hester throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bane throws a counter combo.
Foster Hester is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Bane shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Bane missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bane stalling away here and it's allowed Hester to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Hester keeping moving, preventing Bane from controlling successfully.

Bane looking to sit in guard and control but Hester gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bane wants to get back to his feet but Hester is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bane wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Hester manages to pass to side control.

Hester stands up from half guard.

Bane connects with a right hand. Hester shakes it off.

Bane closes the distance and clinches.
Hester lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Bane is trying to push Hester away but Hester has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Hester turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hester manages to end up in side control.
Bane wants to get back to his feet but Hester is dominant here and he's now got Bane's back!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hester is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Bane has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Hester has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Bane taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Hester doesn't care though - he's delighted!
