PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between ronnie carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ando Luigano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luigano fakes a jab and throws a low kick but carlton checks it well.
Ando Luigano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
carlton swats away the attempt to clinch by Luigano.
carlton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
carlton tries a head kick but it misses.
carlton could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Luigano throws a series of punches but carlton moves out of range.

Luigano fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with carlton, pushing him back against the cage.
carlton has had enough of the clinch but Luigano keeps him there for the moment.

Luigano pulls carlton into guard.

carlton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
carlton wants to control from the top but Luigano keeps moving.
carlton looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
carlton trying to control the position from guard on top but Luigano is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luigano controls carlton momentarily but carlton frees himself.
carlton is stalling in the full guard.
Luigano wants to sweep here but carlton controlling him for the moment.
carlton looking to sit in guard and control but Luigano gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Luigano controls from within his opponent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Luigano wants to control from the top but carlton keeps moving.
carlton looking to hit a scissor sweep but Luigano is one step ahead there.

Luigano seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
carlton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Luigano landing with the ground and pound.
Luigano tries to free his leg and advance position but carlton is retaining full guard.
carlton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Luigano!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
carlton controlling his opponent.
Luigano is working to get back to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
carlton avoids the attempt from Luigano to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luigano looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

carlton is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Luigano has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Luigano is trying to defend against the choke here but carlton has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. carlton Tightens the hold and Luigano taps out furiously! carlton displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
