The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boykin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Scorpion.
Scorpion circles away from the clinch attempt
and Scorpion counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Scorpion misses with a looping left.
Boykin is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Boykin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Boykin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Boykin takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Boykin tries to clinch but Scorpion is having none of it.
Boykin walks into a left hand.
Scorpion displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Boykin throws out the jab.
Boykin tries to close the distance and clinch but Scorpion swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scorpion scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boykin has Scorpion up against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Scorpion.
A right handed body shot lands from Scorpion.
Boykin tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Boykin has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Boykin looks winded!

A head punch on the inside from Boykin fails to land.
Boykin wants to take the fight to the mat but Scorpion manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Scorpion.
Scorpion lands a hook to the side of the head.
Boykin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ranky Scorpion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimentiy Boykin.
Still in the clinch, Scorpion scores with a nice short uppercut.
Scorpion lands a hook that snaps the head of Boykin backwards.

Scorpion has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Boykin tries to clinch but Scorpion moves out of range.
A decent looking cross lands there for Scorpion.

and Scorpion counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Boykin fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Scorpion, pushing him back against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boykin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Scorpion prevents it.
Scorpion lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Scorpion lands a left hand that snaps the head of Boykin backwards.
Scorpion lands a shot to the body.
Boykin takes a shot to the head.
Scorpion pushes Boykin back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Scorpion pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boykin tries to move into range but Scorpion moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Boykin is rocked!
Scorpion ducks down and throws a big overhand right - it lands flush on the jaw, knocking Boykin out cold! The fight is over!
