Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonas De Vos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Varner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Vos comes to the cage accompanied by Wash My Soul -Tricky. Jonas De Vos could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jamie Varner's chin.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jamie Varner!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Varner shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice sprawl there from De Vos as Varner shoots in.

Varner drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

De Vos seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
De Vos wants to stand but Varner is controlling the position.
De Vos trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

De Vos manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Jamie Varner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Varner fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but De Vos avoids it really well and circles away.
Jonas De Vos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamie Varner.
Varner shoots for a double leg takedown but De Vos sprawls well. He's pushed Varner's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
De Vos throws a big counter combination but Varner scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

De Vos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and De Vos wants it to stay on the feet.

De Vos throws a right hand that Varner ducks under and follows up with a left that Varner also avoids with ease.
Varner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Vos swivels and escapes.

Varner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as De Vos sprawls well. De Vos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Varner gets slowly back to his feet.
A little feinted left hand from De Vos on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Varner fails with the takedown.
Varner shoots in for a double leg but De Vos sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A quick step to the side and De Vos tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Varner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Vos tries to avoid it but Varner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Vos to the ground. De Vos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
De Vos seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Nice takedown defense from De Vos. No joy for Varner on that attempt.
Varner shoots in looking for a takedown. De Vos tries to sprawl out of it but Varner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. De Vos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Varner misses with a takedown
and De Vos counters with a left and a right that stings Varner.
Varner finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under De Vos's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Varner falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonas De Vos!
A relieved looking Jonas De Vos thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
