Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luke Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregg Gannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luke Washington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gregg Gannon!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Sergei Dronov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gannon gets a takedown into half guard.
Gannon looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Washington looking for submissions off his back.
Gannon is looking to take a break and control but Washington is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Washington controlling the position well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Washington trying to control from the bottom.
Washington is holding on to half guard well.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Washington looks like he's trying to stand up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gannon throws a head kick but Washington moves out of range.
Washington tries to counter by clinching up but Gannon breaks away and moves out of range.
Washington shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gannon but Gannon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Gannon shoots for a double leg takedown but Washington sprawls well. He's pushed Gannon's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Washington drives through with a takedown into Gannon's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Washington connects with a couple of short punches.
Our spies down at at Komplete MMA Gym inform us that Gannon has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Washington drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Washington jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Washington stands up and waves to Gannon to follow him.

Washington manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gannon on his heels. He'll look to pass Gannon's guard now, I'm sure.

Washington makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Washington postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Washington keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Gannon's head.
Gannon has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Washington has passed into side control.
Gannon tries to bench press Washington off him but Washington keeps the position.

Washington tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Washington has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Washington landing strikes from the mount and Gannon is in trouble!
Washington could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Washington scores with a couple of good head shots there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Washington.

Washington stands up and beckons Gannon to his feet.

Washington shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Washington showed some decent athleticism there.
Washington is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Gannon is breathing heavily.

Gannon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Washington scores with a couple of nice shots.

Washington is looking for a kimura but Gannon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Washington to get the leverage.

Washington is working for a submission of some sort.

Washington is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gannon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Washington.
Gannon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Washington scores with a couple of nice shots.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Washington is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Washington is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gannon trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Washington manages to pass to mount!

Washington wants to finish this one by submission but Gannon is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Washington.
Washington is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gannon can do to turn this around?

Gannon defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Washington.
Washington lands a big shot there that rocks Gannon but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gannon wants to control but Washington is having none of it.

Washington is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gannon to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gannon shrugs it off.
Gannon tries to reverse the position but Washington maintains control.
Washington cracks Gannon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Gannon keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Washington lands a couple of good shots and Gannon has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke Washington dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gannon darts in looking for a takedown but Washington gets double underhooks and turns Gannon into the cage.
Washington tries to counter with a takedown but Gannon is quick to defend against it.
Washington fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Gannon is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Gannon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Washington.

Washington looking to score a takedown here. Gannon is defending well but Washington drives through and ends up in Gannon's guard.
Luke Washington overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Gannon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Washington cracks Gannon with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Washington immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Gannon is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Washington!
