PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rei Trevis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Snead (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snead has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rei Trevis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Snead!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snead tries to keep at a distance but Trevis has taken the fight into the clinch.
Trevis tries to pull guard but Snead forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Trevis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Trevis dodges an elbow strike from Snead.

Trevis breaks the clinch.
Snead misses with a combination

and Trevis moves into the clinch.
Snead looks winded!
Trevis working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Trevis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Trevis has managed to clinch.
Snead is looking to break free of the clinch but Trevis has double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trevis has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Snead uses from the top position.
Snead wants to stand and escape but instead Trevis has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Snead holds on and takes a little breather.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trevis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Trevis pushing down on Snead's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Snead won't allow Trevis to pass to mount.
Trevis is working hard here to advance position.
Trevis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Snead keeps working.
Trevis frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Snead can't escape the position.
Trevis throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Snead holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Trevis tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Snead is trying to escape the mount.
Trevis sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Trevis goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Snead turns into him and now he's in Trevis's guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rei Trevis dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sam Snead's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Trevis fails with a takedown attempt.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Trevis here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Trevis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Snead is fending him off so far but Trevis persists. Nope, Snead circles away and we're back to standing.
Snead was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Trevis shoots in looking for a takedown but Snead manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Trevis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rei Trevis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Snead connects with a looping right hand.
Trevis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Snead throws out a counter right but Trevis avoids it with no problem.
Snead throws a wild body kick that Trevis sees coming a mile off.
Trevis is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snead can do to turn this around?

Snead throws a hook but Trevis blocks it.
Trevis shoots for a takedown but Snead saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A looping hook to the body misses from Snead. Trevis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rei Trevis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Snead moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Snead takes a head kick and keeps coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Trevis rushes Snead and presses him up against the cage.
Trevis can't find room to land a body shot as Snead controls the action.
Trevis blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

A frustrated look appears on Snead's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Trevis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Trevis is trying to pull guard but Snead has him pressed against the cage.
Trevis struggles to land a body shot inside as Snead controls his hands.
Trevis goes for a takedown attempt but Snead pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Trevis moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Trevis effectively controlling the action here.
Trevis keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Snead's efforts to push away.

Snead breaks from the clinch.
Snead misses the shot to the body.
Snead swats away the attempt to clinch by Trevis.
Trevis shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Snead but Snead pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Snead leaves Trevis with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Trevis changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Snead tries to avoid it but Trevis manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Snead to the ground. Snead escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A little jabbing left from Snead on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Trevis moves into the clinch successfully.
Trevis tries for a takedown but Snead manages to get underhooks.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Snead showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Trevis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Snead is trying to defend but Trevis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Trevis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Snead does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Snead moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Snead takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Trevis wants to take a breather but Snead is having none of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Trevis stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Trevis fails with a takedown attempt.

Trevis takes the fight into the clinch.
Trevis jumps guard but Snead stands there with Trevis around his waist. Trevis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Trevis tries to pull guard but Snead won't allow it.

Trevis is trying to drag Snead to the mat but Snead just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Snead tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Trevis avoids it.
Trevis is trying to pull guard but Snead turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Snead throws a lazy right hand but Trevis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Trevis moves into the clinch.
Trevis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Snead smiles and moves away.
Snead getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Trevis wants to clinch.
Snead connects with a right hand. Trevis shakes it off.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Trevis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Snead smiles and moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rei Trevis showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Trevis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
