Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Birchmont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samuel Birchmont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benjamin Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Birchmont shoots for a takedown but Brooks saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brooks tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Brooks throws a right hand that Birchmont ducks under and follows up with a left that Birchmont also avoids with ease.
Birchmont throws a big counter combination but Brooks scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Birchmont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Brooks misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Birchmont tries to counter with a takedown but Brooks is quick to defend against it.
Brooks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Birchmont swivels and escapes.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brooks.
Birchmont feinted with a counter takedown.

Brooks clinches with his opponent.
Birchmont fails to pull the fight into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Birchmont has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Brooks uses from the top position.

Brooks gets to his feet - Birchmont follows without any prompting.

Brooks gets the takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Birchmont is trying to control Brooks's posture but Brooks avoids it.

Brooks stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Brooks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Birchmont has been working on his balance at Kemps training camp, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Brooks.
Samuel Birchmont has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Benjamin Brooks.
Birchmont slaps away a takedown attempt from Brooks, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Birchmont thinks about countering with a head kick.
Birchmont fails to land with a series of punches.
Brooks is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Brooks rushes Birchmont and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Birchmont prevents a takedown attempt there.
Birchmont fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Brooks is working for takedown but Birchmont is calmly controlling the position for now.
Brooks tries to pull guard but Birchmont forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Birchmont manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Birchmont wants to stand and escape but Brooks is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Birchmont is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Birchmont prevents Brooks from improving his position.

Brooks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brooks trying to control but Birchmont postures up.

Birchmont is trying to control the action in half guard but Brooks is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Brooks tries to get to full guard but Birchmont has control of the leg.
Brooks is refusing to be controlled, as Birchmont sits in half guard.
Brooks trying to hold on to Birchmont's head to control him but Birchmont postures up.
Birchmont not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Birchmont trying to control from half guard but Brooks is working away.
Brooks wants to get back to full guard.
Birchmont trying to control the action but Brooks is working from the bottom.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Brooks is trying to maintain the position but Birchmont is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Brooks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Birchmont misses with a head kick.
Brooks feints the counter takedown.
Brooks goes for a double leg but Birchmont avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Birchmont continues to drive forward.
Benjamin Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Birchmont closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brooks to the mat! Brooks manages to get full guard.
Brooks looks winded!
Brooks has control of Birchmont's left arm, preventing Birchmont from doing any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brooks can do anything to dispel that myth.
Birchmont keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Brooks's head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brooks has his hands on Birchmont's head, controlling the position.
Brooks is looking to stand up but Birchmont isn't so interested in that idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Samuel Birchmont dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Brooks misses with a double jab.
Brooks tries to clinch up but Birchmont circles away and keeps his distance.
Birchmont throwing a counter right hand but Brooks manages to avoid it.
Brooks with a poor takedown

and Birchmont counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Birchmont throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Brooks works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Birchmont advances position into side control!
Birchmont working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Birchmont advances nicely into full mount.
Birchmont lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Brooks hang on?
Brooks is in a horrible position here. Birchmont smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Birchmont is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brooks can do to turn this around?
Brooks tries to hold on but Birchmont postures up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brooks can't escape the position.
Birchmont has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Birchmont pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Brooks tries to lock up and control but Birchmont gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Brooks is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Brooks is bucking up trying to escape but Birchmont cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Birchmont connects with a bit shot that sees Brooks covering up! More strikes from Birchmont and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Birchmont is our winner by TKO!
