Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quaid kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Total Recall. Shephard has chosen You All Everybody as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quaid looks to land a combination but Shephard avoids it well.

Shephard lands a jab to the head.
Quaid ducks under a wild hook from Shephard.
Quaid misses with an uppercut.
Shephard thuds his right hand into Quaid's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Quaid stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Quaid wants it to stay on the feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shephard has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Quaid throws out a loose jab but Shephard uses good head movement to avoid it.

Quaid throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Shephard punishes Quaid's body with a nice straight punch.
Quaid moves out of range of the strikes.
Shephard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Quaid bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Shephard misses with a lunging right hand
and Quaid counters with a straight right hand.

That has opened up Jack Shephard's cut even more.

letting Quaid counter with a right hand.

Quaid darts in looking for a takedown but Shephard gets double underhooks and turns Quaid into the cage.
Jack Shephard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shephard lands a nice hook to Quaid's body. Quaid takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

and Shephard is countered with a crisp right hand from Quaid that sends him to the canvas! Quaid follows him to the mat into side control.

Quaid in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quaid lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Shephard is rocked!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jack Shephard's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

After the fight, Douglas Quaid was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
