The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera lands with a thumping leg kick.

Vera shoots in and bounces Medina off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Medina manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Vera keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Medina is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Vera is defending well.

Vera works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Medina is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vera is controlling him.

Medina has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Medina utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Medina wants to stand and escape but Vera is having none of it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vera wants to control from the top but Medina keeps moving.
Vera would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Vera won't allow Medina to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Vera has closed the distance and engaged Medina in a clinch.
Medina has Vera pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Vera manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Medina changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Vera fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Vera is working to tighten his grip on Medina's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Medina has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Vera is really squeezing tight and eventually Medina passes out! Vera breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
