Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nigel Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jenkins napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Jenkins defending against the ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jenkins can do anything to dispel that myth.
Jenkins is trying to buck Williams off.
The ground and pound from Williams seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Jenkins takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Williams throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Jenkins works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Jenkins breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Jenkins moves into range and clinches up with Williams.
Jenkins is trying to push Williams away but Williams has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Jenkins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jenkins closes the distance and pushes Williams back into the cage.

Williams gets control of Jenkins's arms and successfully pulls guard. Williams will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Williams turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Williams manages to end up in side control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nigel Williams will probably get the nod.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jenkins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Williams is proving hard to escape from.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Jenkins is fighting to break Williams's control of his arms but Williams is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Williams has a closed guard, preventing Jenkins from standing up.
Williams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jenkins must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jenkins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nigel Williams.
