Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pike Merry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Carter looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Merry with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

It looks like Pike Merry has been cut.
Carter working over Merry with some ground and pound. Merry looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Carter with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Let's hope that Carter has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Merry manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Carter has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
John Carter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Merry's guard.

Merry is looking to stand up but Carter isn't so interested in that idea.
Merry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carter makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Carter postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Merry covers up, he's hurt! Carter keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Carter and the ref steps in to end the fight! Carter can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
