PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Zulu Zulu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emmitt Brown Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zulu Zulu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Emmitt Brown Jr!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slow jab from Brown Jr misses its intended target.
Zulu drops his hands momentarily and Brown Jr takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Brown Jr dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zulu. That did some damage!
Zulu throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Zulu tries a head kick but it misses.
Brown Jr bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zulu's head backwards.
Zulu looks to land a body kick but Brown Jr moved away.

Brown Jr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Zulu is trying to pull guard but Brown Jr turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Brown Jr throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Brown Jr's coach down at KING OF PAIN was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Brown Jr's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Brown Jr has Zulu pressed against the cage, preventing Zulu from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Brown Jr misses with a hook to the ribs.

Zulu works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Zulu wants to control from the top but Brown Jr keeps moving.

Brown Jr has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Zulu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Zulu is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Brown Jr to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Brown Jr shrugs it off.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brown Jr can do anything to dispel that myth.

Zulu is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Brown Jr can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zulu is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Brown Jr.
Emmitt Brown Jr seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Zulu decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brown Jr wants to improve his position but Zulu is controlling well.
Zulu is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Brown Jr throws a leg kick which misses Zulu's front leg but catches the back leg as Zulu tries to avoid it.

Zulu throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Brown Jr goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It appears Zulu was looking to counter with a kick there.
Zulu takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Brown Jr fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zulu.

Good leg kick by Zulu there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Zulu throws a push kick but Brown Jr slaps the foot to one side.

Zulu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brown Jr but Brown Jr pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Zulu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Emmitt Brown Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brown Jr uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Brown Jr jabs Zulu right on the nose. Zulu blinks but takes it well.
Brown Jr slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Oh Zulu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Brown Jr cracks Zulu on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Zulu falls backwards against the cage. Brown Jr follows up with more strikes that drop Zulu to his knees. Brown Jr keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Zulu! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Emmitt Brown Jr!
