PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kim Chow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kane Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by House Of Flying Daggers. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kim Chow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 48 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kane Miller!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chow pushes Miller up against the cage in a clinch.

Chow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Chow instigates a clinch.
Miller missing with knees to the body.

Chow works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Chow stays in close to Miller's body and controls the position.
Chow postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chow is pushing down on Miller's leg trying to pass to half guard. Miller is fighting to maintain full guard but Chow has managed to sneak the leg through.
Chow content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Miller looks winded!

Chow seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miller for as long as he can get away with.
Chow has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Chow wants to pass to mount but Miller is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chow controlling the action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Miller has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Chow is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Miller misses with a double jab

and Chow counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Chow.
Miller can't find room to land a body shot as Chow controls the action.
Miller is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Chow is keeping busy.
Miller tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Chow's elbow.
Chow keeps control of Miller as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Miller wants to break free but Chow has control.
Chow putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Miller in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Chow stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Chow breaks from the clinch.

Miller tries to keep at a distance but Chow has taken the fight into the clinch.
A knee to the head by Chow.
Miller tries to break free but Chow pushes him back against the cage.
Miller is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Miller is trying to maintain a safe position but Chow gets an underhook and turns Miller into the cage.
Chow cracks Miller with a nice body shot.
Chow stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Chow pulls guard successfully.

Chow looking to hit a scissor sweep but Miller is one step ahead there.
Chow has his hands on Miller's head, controlling the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim Chow dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Chow gets a clinch.
Miller stalling in the clinch.
Miller has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A short body shot lands from Chow as the two fighters clinch.
Chow makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Miller wants to break free but Chow has control.

Miller escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Chow drives through with a takedown into guard.
Chow forces his way into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chow with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Miller is breathing heavily.

Chow continues to stall.
Chow frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Chow tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Chow get's back to his feet.

Chow shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Chow not doing much here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chow passes to side control.
Chow is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Miller can do to turn this around?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chow happy to just control the position for now.
Chow's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Chow stands up.

Chow drives through and clinches with Miller against the cage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chow stalls.
A short body shot lands from Chow as the two fighters clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kim Chow dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Chow closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Miller's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Miller is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chow is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Miller to the mat. Miller regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Chow looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Miller wants to control but Chow passes easily into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chow stands up and beckons Miller to join him on the feet.

Chow rushes Miller and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Chow unloads a knee to the mid-section.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chow throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Chow prevents Miller from breaking the clinch.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Chow has clasped his hands together around Miller's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Miller is trying to escape the position but Chow is controlling the position.

Chow decides to stand back up.

Chow has Miller up against the cage in a clinch.
Miller is working for takedown but Chow is calmly controlling the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Chow breaks the clinch.

Chow shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Well, if Chow is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

This is a sustained period of stalling by Chow.
Further stalling from Chow.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Chow darts in and clinches Miller up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Chow lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Chow is working Miller over against the cage.
Miller tries to break free but Chow pushes him back against the cage.

Chow is trying to trip Miller. He has hold of a leg but Miller is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Chow persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Chow seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Chow passes into half guard.
Kane Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kim Chow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Chow works his way into full mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
Kim Chow showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Chow has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kim Chow seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
