PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenton England (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harijs Sitejs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Harijs Sitejs was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sitejs shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Sitejs stops England from getting back to his feet.
Well, if Sitejs is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sitejs working the head and body with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sitejs takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee warns England that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sitejs cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Kenton England's cut is getting worse.
England is wriggling around trying to escape.
Sitejs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sitejs is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
England really is a fat lump.

Sitejs working for a guillotine from mount but England is in no mood to give up.
Sitejs controlling the position easily from mount.

Sitejs goes for an armbar but England turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from England.

Sitejs has control of England's left arm, preventing England from doing any damage.
England has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sitejs is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Sitejs has his foot on England's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. England works his way back into a safe position though.

England postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sitejs is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of England, into his guard.

England has gone for a leg lock! Sitejs slips out almost immediately though and dives into England's guard.

Sitejs goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, England rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Sitejs's guard! Nice work there by England!

England is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sitejs is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sitejs has escaped and now he's on top!

Harijs Sitejs has got the better of the ground game so far.

England looking for a guillotine here but Sitejs defends easily.

Sitejs wants to get up but he can't break England's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sitejs is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sitejs drops back, looking for a kneebar! England looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. England looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from England!

England trying to control the action but Sitejs is working from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sitejs manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
England seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sitejs does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Sitejs looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sitejs wants to improve his position but England is controlling well.

England is trying to work for a kimura but Sitejs is defending well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

England is looking for a kimura but Sitejs is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for England to get the leverage.

England is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Harijs Sitejs showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sitejs looking to score a takedown here. England is defending well but Sitejs drives through and ends up in England's guard.

England has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Sitejs is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Sitejs is trying to break the clinch but England is controlling him.
Sitejs throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Sitejs turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sitejs manages to end up in side control.

Sitejs tries to stand but England is controlling his head.

Sitejs tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Sitejs wants to stand but England has his arm trapped.
Sitejs looks up at the clock and then as England takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sitejs smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sitejs works to advance to full mount. England defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Sitejs controlling from the full mount.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Sitejs. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
England is trying to escape the mount.
Sitejs fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
England is desperately trying to improve his position but Sitejs has a good base and remains in mount.
Sitejs pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


Jeez, Kenton England's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Kenton England's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
