PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lawrence Wun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kin Young Pak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pak has chosen Chimnyakjadeurege as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lawrence Wun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kin Young Pak!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wun stuns Pak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Pak takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Wun scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Pak has a takedown stuffed.
Pak chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Wun can pounce on him.
Wun looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wun throws a leg kick which misses Pak's front leg but catches the back leg as Pak tries to avoid it.
Wun lands a head kick!
Lawrence Wun seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wun paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Wun throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pak on the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wun thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Pak if he has to take too many more of those.

Pak is rocked!
Pak shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pak is still on wobbly legs! Can Wun finish him?

Pak looking to score a takedown here. Wun is defending well but Pak drives through and ends up in Wun's guard.
Pak throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wun works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wun wants to stand up but Pak is controlling him.

Pak seems to have recovered his senses.
Pak distracts Wun with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Wun definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Pak is looking to work some ground and pound but Wun has wrist control.
Pak is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pak throwing strikes from guard but Wun blocks nicely.
Wun tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Pak stands up over Wun, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A solid leg kick lands there for Wun.
A solid body kick from Wun.
Wun cracks Pak with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nice shot lands for Wun.
Wun connects with a single shot there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wun swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Pak counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Pak lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pak is taking a breather. Wun says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wun is trying to control but can't.
Pak frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pak throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Pak looking to control and managing it successfully.
Pak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wun holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pak tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Pak with a couple of short strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lawrence Wun dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Good exchange - Wun coming out on top.
Wun is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Pak takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Pak is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Wun wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Pak is now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pak in particular looking to stall.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pak not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Pak throwing shots but Wun is blocking nicely.
Pak wants to free his trapped foot but Wun is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Pak is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wun gets caught napping as Pak dives in and scores a takedown. Wun manages to retain guard.
Pak sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Pak trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Pak is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pak is continuing to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Pak lands a couple of decent looking shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kin Young Pak showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pak dives in and grabs Wun's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wun pushes down on Pak's head and hops out.
Wun throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Pak closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Pak throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Wun works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wun is looking to control Pak's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wun avoid being mounted?

Pak is looking to advance position but Wun won't allow it.
Pak seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Wun trying to hold on to Pak's head to control him but Pak postures up.
Wun avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pak.
Pak is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that Pak has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pak's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Wun is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pak scores with a couple of nice shots.
Pak controlling the pace.
Wun wants to control but Pak is keeping busy.
Pak thows a huge punch but Wun dodges it nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pak not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pak is nestled in close to Wun, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Pak looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Kin Young Pak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pak has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
