Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Travis Petes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Chris Torres !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Travis Petes!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres throws and low kick but Petes moves out of range easily.
Torres fails with the takedown.
Torres throws a sloppy head kick and Petes moves out of range easily.

and Torres counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Petes!
Petes is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Torres scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Petes?
Poor strikes thrown by Torres there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Petes has eaten all the pies!

Torres goes for an armbar but Petes turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Petes.

Torres will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Torres manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Petes manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Petes pulls Torres in close to prevent any damage.
Petes is trying to keep Torres in close.

Torres is looking to stand up but Petes won't let him.

Torres would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Petes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Torres is fending him off so far but Petes persists. Nope, Torres circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Petes looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Torres lands with a kick to the ribs.
Torres moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Petes tries to clinch there but Torres circles away.
Torres throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Petes blocks a head kick by Torres .
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Torres dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Torres pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Torres lands with a thumping leg kick.
Torres tries for a takedown but Petes circles away easily

and Petes counters with a single leg into guard. Torres didn't expect that.
Torres will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Torres escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Petes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Torres is pulling down on Petes's head to control his posture.

Torres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Petes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Torres .

Torres looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Torres is pressing down on Petes's thigh, looking to free his foot. Petes is holding on for now.
Torres is thwarting Petes's attempts to control the position.
Torres wants to lay and pray for a moment but Petes keeps working.
Torres has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Petes avoids a series of strikes thrown by Torres .

Torres throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Torres looking to control but Petes is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Petes is bucking up trying to escape but Torres cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Torres connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Petes is breathing heavily.
Torres looking to ground and pound but Petes is blocking nicely.
Petes tries to lock up and control but Torres gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Torres throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Torres jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Petes is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Petes and Torres has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Torres looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Petes is in trouble now - Torres has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Torres dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Torres shoots and misses

and Petes counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Chris Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Petes trying to control but Torres is working from the bottom.
Torres controls Petes momentarily but Petes frees himself.
Torres looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Petes is posturing up here but Torres has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Petes tries to roll out but it's too tight and Petes has to tap! Slick submission there by Torres !
