PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Thurman Huffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jhon Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison has chosen aint not make belive as his entrance music. Jhon Morrison will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thurman Huffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jhon Morrison!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Huffman closes the distance and pushes Morrison back into the cage.

The referee is keeping an eye on Huffman - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Morrison throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Huffman has Morrison up against the cage in a clinch.

Huffman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Huffman really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Huffman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Morrison paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Nice takedown defense from Huffman. No joy for Morrison on that attempt.
Huffman half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Thurman Huffman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Morrison avoids a punch combination nicely.

Huffman fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Morrison, pushing him back against the cage.

Despite the aggression on Morrison's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Thurman Huffman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Morrison shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Huffman as he avoids it easily.
Huffman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Morrison gets tackled into the cage by Huffman. Huffman maintains the clinch.

Huffman gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Huffman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Huffman turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Huffman sizes up Morrison with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Huffman tries to clinch up but Morrison circles away and keeps his distance.
Morrison is trying to counter with his kicks.

Huffman tries to bum rush Morrison with a series of wild strikes but Morrison uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Morrison lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Huffman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Morrison tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Huffman manages to break the clinch.
Morrison shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Huffman defends it nicely.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Huffman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Morrison is controlling him.
Morrison is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Huffman pulls Morrison in close to prevent any damage.
Huffman wants to sweep here but Morrison controlling him for the moment.
Huffman will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Huffman holds on and takes a little breather.
Huffman is looking to stand up but Morrison isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Morrison is breathing heavily.
Huffman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Morrison lands a high kick!
Morrison avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Morrison tries for a takedown but Huffman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Huffman has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Thurman Huffman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A left and a right from Huffman both land. Nice combination.

Morrison is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Huffman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Morrison wants to counter the offense by Huffman and move into the clinch position.

Huffman is trying to drag Morrison to the mat but Morrison just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Huffman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Morrison uses from the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Huffman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Huffman thumps Morrison with a low kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Huffman connects with a leg kick. Morrison looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Nice uppercut lands for Morrison. That snapped Huffman's head back.
Morrison fails with a takedown attempt.
Huffman does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Huffman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Huffman walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Morrison checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Morrison shoots and misses

and Huffman counters with a takedown into side control.
Morrison is looking to get back to his feet here but Huffman is keeping cool and he's managed to take Morrison's back.
Huffman scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Huffman scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Morrison is looking for a way out.

Huffman has Morrison flattened out and is raining down punches.
Huffman biding his time, looking for the opening.
Huffman throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Morrison!


Morrison is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Huffman lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Morrison.
Morrison is still in real trouble! Can Huffman finish him?
Huffman connects with a couple of big shots that have Morrison covering up! Oh, this looks bad for Morrison! Huffman fires away with several more unanswered shots and the referee has no choice but to step in! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thurman Huffman!
