Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaan Ilves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaan Ilves will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Donald Richards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jaan Ilves!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ilves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Richards as he avoids it easily.
Richards lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Richards slaps away a takedown attempt from Ilves, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Ilves looks for a takedown but Richards sprawls well.
Donald Richards has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaan Ilves.
A lazy body kick from Ilves

and Richards counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Richards.
Richards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ilves works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Richards working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Richards is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ilves is just riding it out for now. Richards eventually gives up the hold.
Richards could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ilves keeps control of the position for the meantime.

Richards is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Richards stops Ilves from getting back to his feet.
Ilves regains full guard. Nicely done.
Ilves wants to improve his position but instead Richards has moved into half guard.

Ilves tries to kick Richards off but Richards keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ilves is controlling Richards's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Richards has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Richards is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ilves defends it well.

Ilves is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Richards pulls his head out easily.
Ilves is looking to control Richards's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Ilves avoid being mounted?

Richards seems to be looking for submissions.

Richards is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ilves has managed to free his arm - good work.

Richards tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Richards has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Richards looks to land a strike but Ilves avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Richards is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ilves is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ilves has escaped and now he's on top!

That was a close second round but I would say that Donald Richards will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Ilves drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Richards gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ilves ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ilves no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ilves is pulling down on Richards's head. It's preventing any offense from Richards, at least for the moment.
Ilves manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Richards manages to get himself to full guard.

Ilves passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Richards tries to bench press Ilves off him but Ilves keeps the position.

Ilves decides to stand up, so the ref orders Richards to his feet.

Ilves dives in and grabs Richards's left leg, looking for a takedown. Richards pushes down on Ilves's head and hops out.
Ilves shoots in but no luck this time.
Richards seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ilves.
Ilves fails to land the takedown.
As Ilves tries to get set, Richards tries to push him back and clinch up but Ilves manages to avoid the attempt.
