PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beaumont McHale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Athanasios Konstantoulakis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think McHale might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Half of Fame . Athanasios Konstantoulakis will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 42 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Beaumont McHale!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Athanasios Konstantoulakis!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Konstantoulakis misses with a combination
and McHale counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Konstantoulakis throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Some wild striking there from Konstantoulakis.
Konstantoulakis just misses with a punch to the body.
Konstantoulakis swings for the body but McHale moves out of range.
McHale uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Konstantoulakis.
McHale swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

McHale feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McHale seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Konstantoulakis for as long as he can get away with.
McHale might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
McHale continues to stall.
Konstantoulakis throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've been hearing that McHale has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Konstantoulakis is striking from the bottom but McHale uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Well, if McHale is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Konstantoulakis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McHale. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Konstantoulakis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McHale scores with a couple of nice shots.
Konstantoulakis misses with some strikes from the bottom.
McHale lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
McHale is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Konstantoulakis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Konstantoulakis wants to get back to full guard.
McHale is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
McHale looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Konstantoulakis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
McHale lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
McHale takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Konstantoulakis misses with some strikes from the bottom.
McHale trying to control the pace.

McHale uses his free foot to push down on Konstantoulakis's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Konstantoulakis.
McHale has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Konstantoulakis's face.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McHale postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Konstantoulakis looks a forlorn figure.
Konstantoulakis is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Konstantoulakis in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
McHale postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Konstantoulakis bigstyle! Two more strikes land for McHale and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Beaumont McHale!
Post fight, Beaumont McHale took to the microphone: 'All of my career ive been an underdog for all of my fights.. I will either find a way to win and shock the world or I will lose but simply put on a great performance. Title shot NOW?'.
