The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcfadden shoots in looking for a takedown. Gamboa tries to sprawl out of it but Mcfadden keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gamboa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mcfadden fails to land the takedown.
Gamboa looks for a takedown but Mcfadden sprawls well.
A quick step to the side and Mcfadden tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcfadden is trying to drag Gamboa to the mat but Gamboa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Mcfadden really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gamboa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Gamboa is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mcfadden is defending well.
Mcfadden tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mcfadden throws an elbow that misses. Gamboa uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mcfadden's guard. Nice move by Gamboa!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gamboa is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Mcfadden is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Mcfadden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Gamboa thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Mcfadden throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gamboa's waist but Gamboa gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mcfadden off to one side.

As Mcfadden backs off Gamboa throws a huge counter combo but Mcfadden manages to avoid it all.
Mcfadden changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gamboa tries to avoid it but Mcfadden manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gamboa to the ground. Gamboa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gamboa let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Gamboa! Mcfadden is out on his feet! Gamboa rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Mcfadden is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Mcfadden is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
