PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Quaid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Feargus Urquhart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quaid's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Total Recall. Feargus Urquhart will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Feargus Urquhart!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Urquhart scores with a decent looking hook.
Urquhart missing with a left hand there. Quaid was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Good exchange - Quaid coming out on top.
Urquhart drops his hands momentarily and Quaid takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Urquhart takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A jab from Quaid misses.

Urquhart drops Quaid with a big left hand and mounts him. Quaid is in big trouble!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Quaid is looking to improve his position but Urquhart isn't that keen on the idea.

Quaid might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Urquhart takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Urquhart controlling from mount.

Quaid tries to lock up and control but Urquhart gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Quaid trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Quaid tries to roll over but Urquhart keeps him under control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A cross from Quaid lands.
Urquhart throws a good cross that connects.
Urquhart scores with a nice head shot.
Urquhart throws a shot from downtown. Quaid moves away and avoids it.

and Quaid counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Urquhart throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Quaid tumbling to the canvas!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Urquhart wants to get up but he can't break Quaid's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Quaid wants to stand but Urquhart is controlling the position.

Urquhart stands up from Quaid's guard - Urquhart perhaps looking for a knockout.
Urquhart lands a jab to the head.
Nice defenses there by Quaid.
Urquhart throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Urquhart throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Urquhart might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Urquhart throws a right hand that misses
and Quaid connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Urquhart slips a jab from Quaid.
BOOM! Quaid lands a beautiful left hook that drops Urquhart. Urquhart tries to recover but Quaid is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Urquhart lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Douglas Quaid!
Douglas Quaid was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
