PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stoyak Stoyachnikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby TupperII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stoyak Stoyachnikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 35 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bobby TupperII!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
TupperII changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stoyachnikov tries to avoid it but TupperII manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stoyachnikov to the ground. Stoyachnikov escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
TupperII doesn't succeed with the takedown

and TupperII is countered with a crisp right hand from Stoyachnikov that sends him to the canvas! Stoyachnikov follows him to the mat into side control.


It looks like Bobby TupperII has been cut.
Stoyachnikov in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
TupperII is trying to improve his position.
TupperII can't do much from the bottom here.
Stoyachnikov creates some space and throws a big elbow, but TupperII sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Stoyachnikov looking to punish the body of his opponent here but TupperII is avoiding damage well.

TupperII throws Stoyachnikov to one side and escapes!
TupperII tries for a takedown but Stoyachnikov circles away easily
and Stoyachnikov counters with a straight right hand.
Stoyak Stoyachnikov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby TupperII.
TupperII shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Stoyachnikov defends it nicely.

Stoyachnikov moves into range and clinches up with TupperII.

Stoyachnikov lands a hook that snaps the head of TupperII backwards.
Stoyachnikov scores with a shoulder strike.
TupperII throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Stoyachnikov lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
TupperII fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Stoyachnikov gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
TupperII looks winded!
TupperII is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stoyachnikov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of TupperII's head.
Stoyachnikov throws a big elbow that misses.
Stoyachnikov distracts TupperII with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Stoyachnikov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
TupperII wants to sweep here but Stoyachnikov controlling him for the moment.
TupperII utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Stoyachnikov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. TupperII swivels though and keeps the full guard.
TupperII is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Stoyachnikov stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Stoyachnikov moves into range and clinches up with TupperII.
TupperII has Stoyachnikov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Stoyachnikov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

TupperII has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stoyachnikov regains guard immediately.

TupperII prevents Stoyachnikov from getting back to his feet.
TupperII wants to pass the guard but Stoyachnikov is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
TupperII trying to control but Stoyachnikov is working from the bottom.
Stoyachnikov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst TupperII is controlling him.
TupperII is looking to pass into half guard but Stoyachnikov pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Stoyachnikov is in guard.

Stoyachnikov makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Stoyachnikov lands a couple of digs.

Stoyachnikov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

TupperII keeping full guard, as Stoyachnikov tries to pass.
Stoyachnikov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Stoyachnikov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Stoyachnikov lands a couple of decent looking shots.

TupperII had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Stoyachnikov defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stoyak Stoyachnikov dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bobby TupperII's cut.
That's time! Stoyachnikov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


TupperII shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
TupperII throws a leg kick but Stoyachnikov sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Stoyachnikov gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Stoyachnikov.
Stoyachnikov is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that TupperII can do to turn this around?
Stoyachnikov lands a body punch.
Stoyachnikov throws a blind hook that connects with the side of TupperIIs head.
A right hook to the body lands for Stoyachnikov.
TupperII is looking to take this one to the mat.

Stoyachnikov has clasped his hands together around TupperII's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

A big shot lands for Stoyachnikov! That's hurt TupperII! Will he recover? Stoyachnikov fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Stoyak Stoyachnikov tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
