Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Renaldo Pollard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Efrain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renaldo Pollard has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Efrain!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Efrain misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pollard.
Pollard throws a counter high kick but Efrain was just alert enough to avoid it.
Efrain thuds a left hand into Pollard's body.
Pollard fails with a takedown attempt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Efrain. Pollard does a little dance to reset his feet.
An attempted straight right counter from Pollard misses the target.
Pollard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pollard closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pollard lands in his opponent's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Pollard postures up in Efrain's guard and throws a big left but Efrain blocks it.

Efrain should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pollard fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Efrain tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Pollard shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Efrain sprawls well. Efrain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pollard gets slowly back to his feet.

and Pollard takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Efrain jabs Pollard to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Efrain lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Efrain.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Pollard enables Efrain to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pollard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Efrain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pollard is proving hard to escape from.
Pollard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pollard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Efrain has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pollard is proving hard to escape from.

Pollard is working an open guard so Efrain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Efrain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Efrain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Pollard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Efrain counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nice uppercut there from Efrain.
Pollard slaps away a takedown attempt from Efrain, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Efrain comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Efrain closes the distance and clinches up with Pollard, looking for a takedown. Efrain pushes Pollard against the cage but Pollard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pollard was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Pollard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Efrain's waist but Efrain gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pollard off to one side.
Efrain tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Efrain fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Pollard looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Pollard takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Efrain ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Pollard on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Efrain misses with a wild combination.

Efrain lands a nice hook to Pollard's body. Pollard takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Efrain shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Efrain has eaten all the pies!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pollard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Efrain is working away from the top position though.

Efrain wants to stand up but Pollard is controlling him.

Efrain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pollard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pollard tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Efrain manages to move to mount!
Efrain tries to stand up but Pollard grabs his leg and drags him down! Pollard is now on top, in side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Efrain throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
