The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doherty looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Bird changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Doherty looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Bird looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Doherty being controlled for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doherty is looking to regain half guard here but Bird keeps moving and retains side control.
Doherty is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bird has hold of Doherty's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Doherty seems comfortable defending it but Bird has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Doherty is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Doherty is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Bird couldn't care less - he's delighted!
