Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy McLarnin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffrey Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy McLarnin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeffrey Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice shot by McLarnin.
Taylor shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McLarnin but McLarnin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Taylor takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Some wild striking there from McLarnin.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McLarnin goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Taylor appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Taylor misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McLarnin pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
McLarnin lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

McLarnin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taylor to the mat! Taylor manages to get full guard.
Taylor told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Taylor can't keep his opponent in guard - McLarnin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
McLarnin wants to pass to mount but Taylor is defending the position.
McLarnin not doing much here.

Taylor is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McLarnin pulls his head out easily.

McLarnin slips a nice elbow through Taylor's hands, connecting with Taylor's forehead.
McLarnin controlling the action here.
Taylor is looking for a sweep. McLarnin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
McLarnin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Taylor gets full guard.
Taylor is trying to keep McLarnin in close.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Taylor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McLarnin manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taylor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

McLarnin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Taylor defends it easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McLarnin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


McLarnin lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Taylor fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McLarnin sprawls well initially but Taylor persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Taylor wants to pass to mount but McLarnin is defending the position.
McLarnin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taylor lands with a punch from half guard.

Taylor misses with a head shot. McLarnin uses the momentum to regain guard.

McLarnin kicks Taylor off and gets to his feet.
Jimmy McLarnin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

McLarnin misses with a right hand
and Taylor counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Taylor checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Taylor throws a big counter head kick but McLarnin avoids it with no problem.
McLarnin looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Taylor takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Jimmy McLarnin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McLarnin waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Taylor.
Taylor tries a quick counter leg kick but McLarnin is wise to it.

Taylor connects with a nice looking jab.
McLarnin is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Taylor can do to turn this around?
McLarnin throws a body kick that misses.

McLarnin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McLarnin is in Taylor's guard.
Taylor tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McLarnin controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Taylor wants to control the action here but instead McLarnin manages to pass to full mount!

Well, if McLarnin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Taylor wants to improve his position but McLarnin is controlling well.
McLarnin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Taylor tries to get to full guard but McLarnin has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


McLarnin swings for the body but Taylor moves out of range.
Taylor looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
McLarnin swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
It seemed like Taylor was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
McLarnin tests Taylor's chin there with a solid looking shot.

McLarnin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
McLarnin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A big right from McLarnin misses.

McLarnin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McLarnin lands in his opponent's guard.
McLarnin won't allow Taylor to sweep him here.

Taylor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McLarnin manages to get himself to full guard.

McLarnin controls Taylor momentarily but Taylor frees himself.
Taylor trying to control but McLarnin is working from the bottom.
McLarnin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Taylor is one step ahead there.
Taylor postures up in McLarnin's guard and throws a big left but McLarnin blocks it.
McLarnin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Taylor wants to get back to full guard.
McLarnin is controlling the pace.

McLarnin stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Taylor bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Taylor! But no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McLarnin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Taylor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by McLarnin.
Taylor is trying to counter with his kicks.

McLarnin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Taylor was covering up waiting for the punch and McLarnin finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Taylor bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McLarnin's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McLarnin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Taylor makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimmy McLarnin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McLarnin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
