Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between King Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dominic Carter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, King Morris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dominic Carter!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter misses with the combination.

Carter shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carter showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carter stalling away here and it's allowed Morris to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carter is stalling in the full guard.

Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but Morris is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Carter postures up in Morris's guard and throws a big left but Morris blocks it.
Carter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Morris wants to improve his position but instead Carter has moved into half guard.
Still in half guard, Carter seems content to control.
Carter missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carter not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Carter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Carter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Carter throws a combination. Morris tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like King Morris has been cut.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Morris.
Morris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carter tries to avoid it but Morris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carter to the ground. Carter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Despite the aggression on Carter's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Carter misses with a series of wild punches.

Morris gets the takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Carter gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on King Morris's cut.
That's time! Morris's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Carter throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Carter throws a leg kick that is checked
and Carter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Carter shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Carter trying to control the action but Morris is working from the bottom.
Morris won't allow Carter to pass to mount.

Carter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Carter drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Morris manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carter has Morris in his guard.

Carter is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Carter throwing shots but Morris is blocking nicely.
Carter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Carter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Morris works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Carter wants to control from the top but Morris keeps moving.

Carter decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Carter tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Morris is able to avoid easily.
Morris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Carter stuffs the takedown.

Carter gets the takedown into side control.

Morris throws Carter to one side and escapes!
Morris misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Carter tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Morris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Carter fails to land with a series of punches.
Dominic Carter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Carter connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Morris momentarily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Carter takes the fight into the clinch.

Carter tightens his grip and picks Morris up, before dumping him to the ground. Morris manages to land in guard.

Carter has gone for a leg lock! Morris slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carter's guard.

Dominic Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Carter stuffs the takedown.
And Carter tries to counter it with a takedown but Morris pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morris circles away quickly and effectively.
Morris seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
A jab from Carter misses.
Morris tries to counter by clinching up but Carter breaks away and moves out of range.
Carter displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.

Morris darts in and clinches Carter up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Morris jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Carter walks away with a smile on his face. Morris gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Carter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Morris manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Carter misses with a combination
and Morris counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morris fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carter avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for King Morris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Morris.
Morris fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A bone on bone clash there as Morris blocks the leg kick.
As Carter tries to get set, Morris tries to push him back and clinch up but Carter manages to avoid the attempt.
Morris looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carter is fending him off so far but Morris persists. Nope, Carter circles away and we're back to standing.
Carter drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Morris defends it well.

Carter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Morris jumps guard but Carter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Morris wants to get back to striking at distance but Carter won't allow it.
A short left from Carter.
Morris slowing the pace effectively.

Carter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Morris closes the distance and clinches up with Carter, looking for a takedown. Morris pushes Carter against the cage but Carter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morris dodges the punch combination from Carter.
Carter misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carter pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Carter lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morris circles away quickly and effectively.
Morris really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Morris looks for a takedown but Carter sprawls well.
Dominic Carter is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carter pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Morris back to the cage. Carter follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Morris showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carter.
Morris was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dominic Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Carter has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
