PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dallas Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ellias Pixel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dallas Ware!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ellias Pixel!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Ware as Pixel shoots in.
Ware could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Pixel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Pixel throws a right hand that Ware ducks under and follows up with a left that Ware also avoids with ease.

Pixel clinches with his opponent.
Ware wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Pixel has him pressed against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Ware goes for a takedown attempt but Pixel pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ware stuffs the takedown attempt from Pixel. Pixel gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ware closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pixel's guard.
Pixel is wriggling around but Ware manages to pass to half guard.
Ware perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pixel keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Pixel trying to control here.

Pixel looking for submissions off his back.
Pixel is trying to get back to full guard.
Pixel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ware postures up.
Pixel wants to control but Ware passes easily into half guard.
Ware sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pixel defending well though.
Ware keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Pixel is trying to get back to full guard.
Ware seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pixel trying to hold on to Ware's head to control him but Ware postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ware shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pixel but Pixel pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pixel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
As Pixel looks to move away, Ware throws a big counter combo but Pixel just gets out of the way.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pixel.
Dallas Ware has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ellias Pixel.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pixel looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pixel tries to clinch up but Ware circles away and keeps his distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Ware's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ware or perhaps it was just good defense by Pixel, which made it look bad.
Pixel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ware seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ware gets a double leg takedown into Pixel's guard.
Ware engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dallas Ware will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Pixel throws a series of punches but Ware avoids them all with ease.
An attempted straight right counter from Ware misses the target.
Ware fails with the takedown.
Pixel tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ware defends well and Pixel ends up having to push Ware into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ware darts in looking for a takedown but Pixel gets double underhooks and turns Ware into the cage.

Pixel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Pixel creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Ware is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pixel is controlling him well.

Pixel is looking to take a break and control but Ware is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ware strikes from the bottom but Pixel uses the opportunity to move to side control.

Pixel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pixel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dallas Ware overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pixel is breathing heavily.
Ware is trying to control Pixel's posture but Pixel avoids it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pixel looking to control but instead Ware has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Pixel prevents Ware from standing back up.
Pixel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Ware might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pixel tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ware knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ware is looking to improve his position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Ware is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pixel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dallas Ware. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pixel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Pixel wants it to stay on the feet.

Ware manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pixel on his heels. He'll look to pass Pixel's guard now, I'm sure.
Pixel is wriggling around but Ware manages to pass to half guard.

Pixel tries to kick Ware off but Ware keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ware prevents Pixel from improving his position.
Ware seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Pixel looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Pixel wants to get back to his feet.
Ware content to control rather than advance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ware lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ellias Pixel will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Pixel clinches up with Ware and pushes him back against the cage.

Ware pulls guard.
Pixel trying to control the position from guard on top but Ware is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pixel slips nicely into half guard.
Ware is not content to let Pixel control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pixel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ware is controlling Pixel's trapped leg to prevent Pixel from advancing to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pixel trying to pass the guard but Ware defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pixel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ware with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ware wants to control but Pixel is keeping busy.
Pixel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ware's head.
Ware is trying to stand.
Pixel trying to control from Ware's half guard. Ware has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pixel trying to control but Ware is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pixel gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Ware stalls.

Pixel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Pixel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ware's waist but Ware gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pixel off to one side.

Pixel clinches up against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ware tries to pull guard but Pixel forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Ware pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ware keeping full guard, as Pixel tries to pass.
Pixel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ware pushes Pixel off and gets back to his feet.
Pixel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Pixel shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
It looked like Ware was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Pixel missing with a left hand there. Ware was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Ware looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pixel!
Pixel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ware wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pixel tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ware presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Ware controlling from mount.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ware breaks from Pixel's wrist control and lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dallas Ware.
I think Ware has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
