PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Idi Amin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fejha Kurko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Idi Amin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fejha Kurko!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Luis Engracia and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Fejha Kurko has been cut.
No joy there for Amin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Amin closes the distance and clinches up with Kurko, looking for a takedown. Amin pushes Kurko against the cage but Kurko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Kurko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Amin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kurko lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kurko tries to clinch but Amin moves out of range.
The fighters circling - Amin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Amin fails with a takedown attempt.
Amin looks for the body kick but Kurko saw that one coming.

Amin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kurko swivels and escapes.

Amin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Kurko closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kurko should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Amin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kurko smiles and moves away.
Amin throws a low kick, looking for Kurko's leg but Kurko calmly moves out of range.

Amin tries to clinch up

and Kurko counters with a single leg into guard. Amin didn't expect that.
Amin wants to improve his position but instead Kurko has moved into half guard.
Kurko winds up and cracks Amin with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Amin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Amin tries to get out of the position.

Kurko uses his free foot to push down on Amin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Amin.
Kurko sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Amin tries to hold on but Kurko postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kurko landing strikes from the mount and Amin is in trouble!
Amin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Amin misses with a jab to the body

and Kurko counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Amin gets back to full guard.
Amin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kurko on the ground.
Kurko wants to pass the guard but Amin is keeping the position.
Amin wants to sweep here but Kurko controlling him for the moment.
Amin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Amin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kurko is controlling him.

Kurko is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

and Amin counters with a left and a right that stings Kurko.
Idi Amin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kurko fails with the takedown.

Idi Amin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Amin cracks Kurko with a good jab.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You get the feeling that Amin really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Amin manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Amin shoots in looking for a takedown. Kurko tries to sprawl out of it but Amin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kurko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Amin takes a swing at Kurko's ribcage but misses.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fejha Kurko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kurko winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
