Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Scot Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Requis Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Santana.

and Black counters with a nice double leg into side control. Santana won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black is stalling here. Santana is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Black seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Santana has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Santana could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Black might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Santana haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That was a close round but I would say that Scot Santana will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santana has Black pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Black manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Scot Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Santana wants the takedown. Black is fighting it off but Santana persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Black's guard against the cage.

Santana got a little sloppy there for a moment and Black has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santana has managed to get both his arms back between Black's legs - danger averted.
Black wants to sweep but no luck.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA St Petersburg inform us that Black has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Black drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Black as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Santana screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Black! Nice submission victory there!
