PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Daren Spencer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Sergeant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan Sergeant!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Spencer gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sergeant postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Spencer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sergeant, into his guard.

Sergeant pulls Spencer in close to prevent any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sergeant can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sergeant is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Spencer stands up over Sergeant, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sergeant manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Sergeant or perhaps it was just good defense by Spencer, which made it look bad.

Sergeant changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Spencer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Spencer tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Sergeant easily slips into full mount!

Spencer is looking to improve his position but Sergeant isn't that keen on the idea.

Sergeant has his opponent's back but Spencer is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Sergeant.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Spencer gets tackled into the cage by Sergeant. Sergeant maintains the clinch.
Spencer is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

The referee calls for Sergeant to work.
Spencer drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sergeant gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Sergeant turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sergeant manages to end up in side control.

Sergeant closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sergeant decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Sergeant throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spencer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sergeant is in Spencer's guard.
Sergeant is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sergeant clinches up with Spencer and pushes him back against the cage.

Sergeant gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Spencer regains guard.

Sergeant slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sergeant makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sergeant is stalling in the full guard.

Dan Sergeant showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Spencer looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Sergeant looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Sergeant has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Spencer is trying to keep an underhook but Sergeant manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sergeant working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Daren Spencer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Sergeant.

Well Sergeant has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
