PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kennet Janssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bena Berr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kennet Janssen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bena Berr!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berr throws a shot to the body.
Berr uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.


It looks like Kennet Janssen has been cut.

Janssen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Berr, pushing him back against the cage.
Berr lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Berr looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Janssen blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Berr lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Janssen backwards.
Berr has a couple of punches blocked by Janssen.
Berr tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Janssen is trying to pull guard but Berr has him pressed against the cage.
Berr tries to throw a body punch but Janssen avoids it by throwing Berr back against the cage.
Berr lands a body punch in the clinch.
Janssen blocking some punches.
Janssen tries to pull guard but Berr won't allow it.
Janssen definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Berr misses with a hook from the clinch.

Janssen manages to pull guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Janssen looking to control but Berr passes into half guard.

Janssen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Janssen is looking to improve his position.
Berr is controlling the pace.
Janssen is looking for a sweep. Berr is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Janssen looking for submissions off his back.
Berr is trying to control the action in half guard but Janssen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Janssen tries to roll over but Berr keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Berr sitting and controlling from the half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Berr is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Berr is keen to just control but Janssen is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Berr lands with a hook. Janssen tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Berr scores with a nice strike.
Janssen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Berr circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Berr counter with a right hand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Berr lands a glancing blow to the side of Janssen's head.
Janssen wants to clinch.
Decent striking displayed by Berr there.
Janssen closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Janssen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Berr misses with some punches.
Janssen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bena Berr dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Kennet Janssen's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Berr missing with a left hand there. Janssen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Nice uppercut there from Berr.
Janssen tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Berr counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Janssen takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Berr lands a nice shot that snaps Janssen's head back.
Janssen tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Berr counters with a nice right hand that sends Janssen toppling to the canvas! Janssen scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Berr finish him?!


Janssen is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Berr thuds a left hand into Janssen's body.
Oh Janssen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Berr shakes his hands by his side, trying to relax. Janssen takes his eyes off the ball for a moment - Berr sees the opportunity and cracks him with a massive hook! Janssen bends double and collapses on top of himself - he's out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts! Wow, what a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bena Berr!
