Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeffrey Combs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sprat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeffrey Combs has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeffrey Combs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Sprat!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Sprat as he connects with a hook.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sprat enables Combs to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sprat manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sprat wants to get back to his feet but Combs passes into half guard.

Combs working over Sprat with some ground and pound. Sprat looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Combs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Combs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sprat is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Combs is controlling him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sprat wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sprat has eaten all the pies!
Sprat dives in and grabs Combs's left leg, looking for a takedown. Combs pushes down on Sprat's head and hops out.
Combs wants to clinch.

Sprat closes this distance looking for a takedown but Combs circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Combs as Sprat shoots in.
Jeffrey Combs has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Sprat.
Combs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sprat moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Sprat gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Sprat digs a right hand into Combs's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Combs's gas tank.

Sprat keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Combs's efforts to push away.

Combs knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sprat on the ground.

Sprat wants to take a breather but Combs is having none of it.
Combs is looking to control Sprat's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Combs avoid being mounted?

Sprat tries to pass the half guard into mount. Combs knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sprat throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Combs preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Combs is looking for a sweep. Sprat is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Sprat will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sprat shoots in looking for a takedown. Combs tries to sprawl out of it but Sprat keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Combs manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Sprat moves into the clinch.

Sprat is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Combs can't fight it off and eventually Sprat manages to take the fight to the floor. Combs looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Sprat wants to control from the top but Combs keeps moving.

Sprat is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Combs has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Sprat is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Combs can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Combs is squirming around, avoiding Sprat's attempts to control the action.
Combs tries to reverse the position but Sprat maintains control.

Combs is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Sprat goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Combs turns into him and now he's in Sprat's guard.
Sprat is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sprat scores with a nice shot.
Combs postures up.
Sprat lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Sprat engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sprat prevents Combs from getting back to his feet.
Sprat wants to get up but he can't break Combs's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sprat throws a big elbow that misses.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Combs is on top in guard.

Combs postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sprat is breathing heavily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sprat pulls Combs in close to prevent any damage.
Combs cracks Sprat with a solid left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Sprat showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Sprat rushes Combs and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sprat is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sprat tries to score a body lock takedown but Combs shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Sprat keeps control of Combs as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Combs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sprat closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Combs bucks up and tries to throw Sprat off but instead Sprat has got his back!

Sprat is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Combs defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Sprat takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sprat trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Sprat is hanging on to Combs's back as he tries to escape.

Sprat is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Combs is defending well though. Sprat let's go of the attempt for now.

Combs with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Combs connects with a nice short shot to Sprat's temple.
