Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joel Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby TupperIII (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 36 - 35 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby TupperIII!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller scores with a kick to the midsection.
TupperIII looks for a takedown but Miller sprawls well.
Miller connects with a single shot there.
Miller looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Miller looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Miller gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
TupperIII is trying to pull guard but Miller turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Miller misses with a body punch.
TupperIII tries to pull guard but Miller forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Joel Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby TupperIII.
Miller tries to work over TupperIII's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Miller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
TupperIII lands with a thumping leg kick.
Miller tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
TupperIII uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Miller.
TupperIII works Miller's body with a nice hook.
TupperIII throws a low kick but it's checked well by Miller.
Bobby TupperIII seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

TupperIII misses with a takedown
and Miller connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and TupperIII counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

TupperIII is working for a submission of some sort.

TupperIII is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Miller has managed to free his arm - good work.

TupperIII looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

TupperIII seems to be looking for submissions.

Miller works his way to full guard. Good work.

TupperIII drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and TupperIII jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

TupperIII is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Miller is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Miller has escaped and now he's on top!

Miller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

TupperIII working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Miller doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Miller manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Miller is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

TupperIII had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.

TupperIII is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Miller frees his head nicely. Oh but TupperIII has switched to an armbar! Miller is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Armbar). Bobby TupperIII!
