The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hessler cracks the inside of Franco's front leg.

Hessler throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Franco attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Franco has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Franco just misses with a punch to the body.
Hessler tries to land a front kick but Franco steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Hessler has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Franco is landing a low percentage of strikes.

A quick step to the side and Franco tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Franco cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Hessler takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Franco fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hessler checks it well.

As Hessler looks to move away, Franco throws a big counter combo but Hessler just gets out of the way.
Franco misses with a hook
and Hessler counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hessler misses with a hook. Franco ducked under it nicely.
Hessler uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Hessler missing with a left hand there. Franco was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Hessler tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Franco was well out of range. Poor timing from Hessler.

Franco seems to have got his legs back now.

Hessler misses with an uppercut. Franco saw that one coming.

Franco went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

and Franco counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Franco wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hessler has him pressed against the cage.

Hessler throws a front kick that sends Franco stumbling back into the cage.

and Hessler counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Franco off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Hessler follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Franco was out before he hit the floor.
