Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Doc Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Doc Patterson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Jones!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones throws the left hand but Patterson avoids the punch easily.
Patterson lands an overhand right.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Patterson.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Patterson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Patterson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jones manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Patterson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Patterson cracks Jones with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Patterson trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Jones looks to move to half guard but instead Patterson has passed into mount! Damn!
Jones gets back to half guard.

Jones is trying to control but can't.

Patterson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Patterson slips a nice elbow through Jones's hands, connecting with Jones's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Patterson has control of the leg.

Jones looking for submissions off his back.
Jones is controlling Patterson's trapped leg to prevent Patterson from advancing to side control.
Patterson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Patterson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Patterson is working for a submission of some sort.

Jones actively working from the bottom here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones is not content to let Patterson control the position.

Patterson seems to be looking for submissions.
Patterson is breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones scores with a nice strike.
Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jones throws out a loose jab but Patterson uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones misses with a jab, cross combination.

Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mike Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Patterson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Patterson throws a shot to the body.
Patterson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones.

Patterson shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Patterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Patterson escapes and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Patterson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Patterson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patterson trying to control the position but Jones is working away.

Patterson working the ground and pound but Jones is defending the strikes.
Jones is looking for a sweep.

Patterson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Patterson misses with the ground and pound.
Jones wants to control but Patterson postures up.
Jones is looking to regain half guard here but Patterson keeps moving and retains side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Patterson blocks a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Doc Patterson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Patterson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jones.
Jones throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Patterson blocks a jab.
Jones waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Patterson.
Patterson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Jones tries to clinch there but Patterson circles away.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Patterson.
A jab from Jones misses.
Jones throws a series of punches but Patterson avoids them all with ease.
Patterson scores with a body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jones throws a hook but Patterson avoids it easily.
Patterson lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Patterson.
Patterson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Jones is breathing heavily.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Patterson is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Patterson!
