PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Tsehov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shina Aoyki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsehov kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ivan Rebroff - Cossack Patrol. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tsehov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Aoyki thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Aoyki drops back looking for a leg! Tsehov is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tsehov manages to kick Aoyki off! Aoyki jumps back into Tsehov's guard.

The is referee keeping an eye on Tsehov - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Tsehov is in a horrible position here. Aoyki smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsehov wants to try and get back to his feet.

Aoyki is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tsehov has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's time! Tsehov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Aoyki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tsehov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Tsehov checks a leg kick.
Tsehov closes the distance but Aoyki moves to the side
and Aoyki counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tsehov's knee momentarily.
Tsehov throws a chopping leg kick but Aoyki manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Tsehov looks for the body kick but Aoyki saw that one coming.

Aoyki bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Tsehov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aoyki on the ground.

Tsehov wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Aoyki.

Tsehov's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Tsehov is squirming around, avoiding Aoyki's attempts to control the action.
Tsehov is in a horrible position here. Aoyki smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Aoyki wants to control the pace but Tsehov is squirming around nicely.
Tsehov is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Aoyki lands with some strikes.
Aoyki is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Tsehov is in real trouble.

Aoyki has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Tsehov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Aoyki tries to get the hooks in deep but Tsehov pushed the leg off.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Aoyki is striking well from the back but Tsehov escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shina Aoyki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Tsehov throws a leg kick
and Aoyki counters with a good low kick that Tsehov was not able to check.
Aoyki throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Tsehov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Aoyki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Tsehov is trying to stand up here but Aoyki is controlling him well.

Aoyki is working for a kimura here but Tsehov manages to reverse the position and he's now in Aoyki's guard.
Aoyki wants to sweep but no luck.

Aoyki looking for a guillotine here but Tsehov defends easily.
Aoyki is pulling down on Tsehov's head. It's preventing any offense from Tsehov, at least for the moment.
Aoyki takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Aoyki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tsehov has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Aoyki to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Tsehov is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Aoyki pulls down on the head and he's put Tsehov to sleep! This one is all over!
