The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Texas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
That kick from Texas tenderised Penda's leg. Penda is trying to keep his angry face on.

and Texas counters with an inside leg kick.
Texas feints and then cracks Penda's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Penda down.

and Texas counters with a nice kick to the body.
Good leg kick by Texas there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Both fighters circling a little - Texas finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Penda takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Penda is defended easily by Texas.

Texas lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Texas cracks the inside of Penda's front leg.
Texas turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Penda has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Texas.
Penda takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Texas lands a big head kick that sends Penda tumbling to the mat! Texas takes a step backwards and waves Penda back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Penda is rocked!

It looks like Joao Penda has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Texas thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Penda if he has to take too many more of those.
Penda is still on wobbly legs! Can Texas finish him?
Texas throws a nice inside leg kick.
Penda seems to have recovered his senses.

Texas throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Texas! Penda is out on his feet! Texas rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Penda is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Penda is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
