Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Kage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kage's entrance music is My Last Breath. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Kage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Adams!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kage looks for a takedown but Adams sprawls well.
Kage misses with a head kick.
Kage looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Adams moves out of range of the body kick.
Adams changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Adams shoots in but no luck this time.
Adams tries to clinch but Kage is having none of it.

Adams pushes Kage up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adams keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kage's efforts to push away.
Kage will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Adams up against the cage.

Adams lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Adams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kage doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Adams.
Kage slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Kage managing to control the position.
Kage is trying to keep Adams in close.
Kage has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Kage tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kage pushes Adams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Adams shoots in and bounces Kage off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Kage is adopting a defensive guard.

Kage wriggles free and stands up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Adams goes for a double leg but Kage avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kage continues to drive forward.
Kage keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Adams looks for a takedown but Kage sprawls well.
Michael Kage has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Adams.

Adams fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kage throws a head kick that misses.
Adams looks for a takedown but Kage sprawls well.
Kage looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adams is fending him off so far but Kage persists. Nope, Adams circles away and we're back to standing.
Adams looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Max Adams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kage throws a leg kick that is checked

and Adams counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kage pushes Adams off and gets back to his feet.
Adams throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kage scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Kage is breathing heavily.

Adams is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Kage decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Kage misses with a takedown attempt - Adams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kage is fending him off so far but Adams persists. Nope, Kage circles away and we're back to standing.

Kage gets caught flat footed, as Adams shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kage pushes Adams off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Adams tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kage paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Kage dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Adams gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kage to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Adams wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Kage manages to pass to side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Adams manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Adams lands with a slapping head kick.

Kage shoots in and gets a takedown into Adams's guard.

Adams striking off his back but it's not causing Kage any problems.
Kage is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Adams tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Adams can't keep his opponent in guard - Kage advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kage lands strikes from half guard.
Adams controlling the position well.

Adams is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Kage pulls his head out easily.
Still in half guard, Kage seems content to control.
Adams punching from the bottom.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kage moves nicely into side control.

Kage stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Adams darts in and clinches Kage up against the cage.
Kage can't break the clinch.
Kage tries to work over Adams's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kage wants to get back to striking at distance but Adams won't allow it.
Kage is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Adams to keep the fight standing.

Adams breaks the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kage shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Adams is looking to get back to is feet but Kage passes into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Adams tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Michael Kage overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kage controls the position from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Adams can do anything to dispel that myth.
Adams is trying to buck Kage off.
Adams is letting Kage control him for a moment.

Kage decides to stand back up.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Adams - that will leave a mark!

Kage gets a takedown into half guard.

Adams manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adams throws a head kick that half lands.

Adams gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Adams works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Adams breaks the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Adams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Adams shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kage counters with a two punch combo.
Kage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Adams throws a looping overhand right but Kage ducks down to avoid it.
Kage shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense.
Kage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kage wants it to stay on the feet.
As Adams looks to move away, Kage throws a big counter combo but Adams just gets out of the way.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adams slaps away a takedown attempt from Kage, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Kage. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Adams tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kage seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Adams scores with a hook.
Adams lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Adams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Adams is trying to get an arm triangle but Kage is defending well.

Kage regains half guard there - taking advantage of Adams's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adams trying to work for an americana but Kage has managed to regain full guard.

Adams postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kage is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Adams, into his guard.

Adams is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kage dives into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kage stands up and beckons Adams to his feet.
Kage with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kage shoots in for a takedown but Adams shows good takedown defense.
Adams fails with the takedown

and Kage counters by clinching up.
Adams prevents a takedown attempt there.

Adams breaks from the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Kage. No joy for Adams on that attempt.
Kage thows a leg kick but Adams checks it

so Adams counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Adams has gone for a leg lock! Kage slips out almost immediately though and dives into Adams's guard.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kage sitting in guard here, content to control.

Kage decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Adams, up you get!
Kage gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Adams connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Adams throws a wild body kick that Kage sees coming a mile off.
Adams throws a right and a left that Kage avoids nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Adams has managed to clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Max Adams.
I think Adams has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
