The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Menchov wants to clinch.
A combination from Menchov does no damage.
Mayer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mayer. Menchov shrugs it off though.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Mayer - that will leave a mark!
Mayer throws a head kick that misses.
Mayer thows a body kick. Menchov tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Menchov fails with the takedown.
Mayer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Menchov is breathing heavily.
Menchov takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A head kick lands from Mayer that sends Menchov to the canvas. Menchov tries to scramble back to his feet but Mayer brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Vladimir Menchov has been cut.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Menchov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Mayer throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Menchov seems to have got his legs back now.
Mayer fakes the leg kick and cracks Menchov in the body.

Mayer lands a nice leg kick that just misses Menchov's sensitive parts.

Mayer throws a right hand that Menchov ducks under and follows up with a left that Menchov also avoids with ease.

Mayer lands a big head kick that sends Menchov to the canvas! Mayer follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
