The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Lil momentarily.
Lil lands with a cross.
Powell takes one on the button.
Lil ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Powell moves away.
Powell blocks a jab.
Powell tries to counter with a clinch but Lil shakes him off and moves away.
Powell slips a jab and a cross from Lil.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Powell! But no joy.
Powell slaps away a takedown attempt from Lil, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Lil ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Powell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lil is fending him off so far but Powell persists. Nope, Lil circles away and we're back to standing.

Lil fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Powell sprawls well initially but Lil persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like Lil is going to stand back up.

Powell lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage.

Lil stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Powell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lil as he jumps to the side.
Lil misses with a few strikes there.
Powell now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Lil uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Powell.
Lil's corner calls for a 1-2. Lil obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Powell drives through and clinches with Lil against the cage.

Powell will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Lil up against the cage.

Powell shoots in looking for a takedown but Lil manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Powell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
