Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mose Hodge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stepan Gagarin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mose Hodge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stepan Gagarin!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Hodge moves into the clinch.

Hodge pulls guard.
Gagarin trying to control but Hodge is working from the bottom.
Hodge knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gagarin on the ground.
Gagarin is looking to work some ground and pound but Hodge has wrist control.

Hodge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gagarin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gagarin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gagarin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Hodge keeping moving, preventing Gagarin from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hodge is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gagarin has gone for a leg lock! Hodge slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gagarin's guard.

Hodge gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hodge rushes Gagarin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hodge pulls guard.
Hodge is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Gagarin landing some decent shots from guard.
Hodge will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hodge lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Hodge postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gagarin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hodge, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gagarin wants to control from the top but Hodge keeps moving.

Gagarin has gone for a leg lock! Hodge slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gagarin's guard.

Gagarin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hodge manages to get himself to full guard.


Hodge escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gagarin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gagarin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hodge dives on top into guard.

Hodge cracks Gagarin with a solid left hand.
Hodge with a nice head shot there.
Gagarin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gagarin will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hodge works over Gagarin with some ground and pound from guard.

Gagarin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gagarin looks winded!
Gagarin controls Hodge momentarily but Hodge frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mose Hodge dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Hodge shoots in and gets a takedown into Gagarin's guard.
Hodge throws a big elbow that misses.
Mose Hodge overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hodge working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Hodge drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gagarin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gagarin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gagarin!

Hodge is trying to buck Gagarin off.

Hodge tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hodge manages to get back to half guard.
Gagarin moves nicely into side control.
Hodge is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gagarin can do to turn this around?
Hodge is looking for a sweep.
Gagarin throws a strike aimed at the side of Hodge's head but Hodge avoids it well.
The strikes coming from Gagarin are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Hodge can't do much from the bottom here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hodge stops Gagarin from passing to mount.

Gagarin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hodge rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Gagarin's guard! Nice work there by Hodge!

Gagarin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Gagarin throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hodge uses it to pass to side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hodge scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Gagarin to see if he's OK.

Hodge is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Gagarin tries to bench press Hodge off him but Hodge keeps the position.
Hodge is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Gagarin's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gagarin tries to buck Hodge off but Hodge is having none of it.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Hodge has Gagarin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hodge pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gagarin tumbling to the mat - Hodge dives into Gagarin's guard.

Hodge is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gagarin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gagarin has escaped and now he's on top!

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hodge holds on and takes a little breather.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gagarin is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Gagarin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Hodge cracks Gagarin with a big right hand but Gagarin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hodge is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gagarin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Hodge tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mose Hodge showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hodge has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
