Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Orion Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raimundo Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orion Cook!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Raimundo Sobral!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook shoots in but no luck this time.
Sobral takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sobral's corner calls for a 1-2. Sobral obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Cook stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sobral.
Sobral throws a head kick but Cook moves out of range.
Cook shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sobral as he jumps to the side.
Sobral fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Cook takes a jab right on the kisser.
Good standup being displayed there by Sobral as he connects with a hook.
Sobral plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sobral jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sobral tries to bum rush Cook with a series of wild strikes but Cook uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The fight stays on the outside here - Cook looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sobral feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Cooks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Sobral lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cook throws a body shot but no joy.
Sobral jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cook waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sobral.
Sobral throws a head kick that Cook semi-blocks.
Cook blocks a head kick by Sobral.
Cook is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sobral sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Orion Cook. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cook shoots in looking for a takedown. Sobral tries to sprawl out of it but Cook keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sobral manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Sobral ducks under a wild hook from Cook.
Sobral throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Cook changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sobral tries to avoid it but Cook manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sobral to the ground. Sobral escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sobral cracks the inside of Cook's front leg.
Raimundo Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cook on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Sobral is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cook had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sobral connects with a nice looking jab.
Cook throws a hook but Sobral avoids it easily.
Sobral scores with a nice body kick.
Nice shot lands for Sobral.

Cook takes a swing at Sobral's ribcage but misses.

Sobral throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cook was covering up waiting for the punch and Sobral finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cook has momentary wrist control but Sobral slips an elbow through the middle.
Sobral pushing down on Cook's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Sobral is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sobral with the ground and pound but Cook uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Cook avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Sobral makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sobral is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sobral has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cook wants to control the position but Sobral says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Sobral is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Cook sees it coming and defends easily.
Cook is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Sobral lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sobral scores with a couple of good hammerfists.


Cook is rocked!
Sobral takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oh Cook is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sobral has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Cook defend it? Sobral steps over the head and cranks it - Cook is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sobral!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Raimundo Sobral!
Raimundo Sobral decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
