Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roosevelt Sampson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stephan Lea!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lea moves in looking to clinch but Sampson pushes him off.

Sampson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Sampson landing with the ground and pound.
Lea looking to control.
Lea looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sampson is one step ahead there.
Sampson won't allow Lea to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lea is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sampson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lea.
Sampson is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Sampson throws a series of punches but Lea avoids them all with ease.
Sampson keeps the fight on the outside.
Sampson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Lea shoots in looking for a takedown. Sampson tries to sprawl out of it but Lea keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sampson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Sampson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Lea.
Lea changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sampson tries to avoid it but Lea manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sampson to the ground. Sampson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stephan Lea seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lea.
Roosevelt Sampson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stephan Lea.

Lea misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
As Lea looks to move away, Sampson throws a big counter combo but Lea just gets out of the way.

Sampson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lea is trying to maintain the position but Sampson is very close to passing his half guard.
Lea wants to get back to full guard.

Lea wants to control but Sampson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Lea throws a series of punches but Sampson avoids them all with ease.

Lea misses with a head kick.
Sampson throws a big counter combination but Lea scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Lea looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Sampson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Lea's half guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Lea looks for the body kick but Sampson saw that one coming.

Sampson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lea can do to turn this around?

Lea wants to improve his position but instead Sampson has moved into half guard.
Sampson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Sampson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sampson slows the pace down in half guard.
Nice strikes from Sampson there.
Sampson is nestled in close to Lea, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sampson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Sampson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Lea manages to get to full guard.

Sampson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Lea is trying to keep Sampson in close.
Sampson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lea is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sampson is in close to Lea's body, working some short punches and elbows.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Lea gets caught napping as Sampson dives in and scores a takedown. Lea manages to retain guard.
Sampson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lea wants to stand up but Sampson is controlling him.
Sampson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sampson won't allow Lea to sweep him here.

Lea has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sampson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lea wants to sweep but no luck.
Lea is still in real trouble! Can Sampson finish him?
Sampson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Sampson arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Lea's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Roosevelt Sampson!
