The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haapasaari changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Paez shoots and misses
and Haapasaari counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Paez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Haapasaari counters with a one-two to the body.
Paez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paez wants it to stay on the feet.
Haapasaari shoots in looking for a takedown. Paez tries to sprawl out of it but Haapasaari keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paez manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Paez let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Paez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Haapasaari has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Paez but great work by Haapasaari.

Haapasaari is working Paez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Haapasaari got a little sloppy there for a moment and Paez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Haapasaari has managed to get both his arms back between Paez's legs - danger averted.
Paez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Haapasaari doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Haapasaari manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
