PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lino Miranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Lino Miranda has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Lino Miranda seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lino Miranda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Richards!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miranda swings for the body but Richards moves out of range.
Richards appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Richards gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

It looks like Lino Miranda has been cut.

Richards's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Richards stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Richards wants it to stay on the feet.
Miranda blocks a head kick by Richards.
Miranda misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Miranda tries to sprawl but Richards drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Miranda wants to stand back up but Richards manages to pass into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Richards throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Miranda works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Richards seems to be looking for submissions.

Richards stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Miranda to get to his feet.

and Richards counters by moving into the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Richards has his foot on Miranda's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Miranda works his way back into a safe position though.
Richards manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Miranda manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richards jumps into guard, dragging Miranda to the mat.

Miranda looking to sit in guard and control but Richards gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Richards stops Miranda from standing up.

Richards gets to his feet. Miranda looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Richards tries to bum rush Miranda with a series of wild strikes but Miranda uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Richards throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Miranda counters with a shoot takedown. Richards fights it but they end up in guard.
Richards wants to get back to his feet but Miranda passes into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Richards pushes Miranda up against the cage in a clinch.

Richards wants the takedown. Miranda is fighting it off but Richards persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Miranda's guard against the cage.

Miranda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Richards doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Richards manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Miranda rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Richards moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Richards lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Miranda at a distance.

Richards throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Miranda was covering up waiting for the punch and Richards finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Well Richards has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
