The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado misses with a combination
and Wad counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Machado moves into range and clinches up with Wad.
A nice right hand lands inside from Wad.
Machado misses with a knee strike.
Machado tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wad just stands there and leans against the cage.
Wad works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Machado swings wildly with an uppercut but Wad uses good head movement to avoid it.

Machado pulls guard.
Wad is looking to stand up but Machado won't let him.
Wad trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wad is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Machado has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Wad is looking to defend but Machado has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Wad! Machado pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Wad taps out and this one is all over!

After winning the bout, John Machado thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
