PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Connor McGuinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Woo Kidd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Woo Kidd was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Connor McGuinness!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Woo Kidd!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kidd throws a predictable looking body shot
and McGuinness counters with a stiff right hand.
Kidd looks to score with a jab to the body but McGuinness is just out of range.
McGuinness keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kidd.
Kidd takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
McGuinness catches Kidd with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Kidd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kidd throws a hook to the side of McGuinness's head but McGuinness sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
McGuinness swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kidd throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGuinness.
Kidd misses with a two punch combination.
Kidd falls off balance throwing a combination
and McGuinness counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kidd swings for the body but McGuinness moves out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McGuinness connects with a right hand. Kidd shakes it off.

and McGuinness counters with a nice uppercut.
Kidd throws a left and a right that both miss
and McGuinness makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kidd takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kidd is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McGuinness uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kidd.
Kidd tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGuinness was well out of range. Poor timing from Kidd.
It looked like McGuinness was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kidd.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kidd. McGuinness does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kidd misses with an uppercut
and McGuinness counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Kidd misses with a combination
and McGuinness counters with a two punch combo.
Kidd swings widly with a right hand
and McGuinness counters with a stiff right hand.


Kidd is rocked!
McGuinness on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Kidd thows a left - swing and a miss!
McGuinness is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kidd takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kidd is still on wobbly legs! Can McGuinness finish him?
Kidd throws out a loose jab but McGuinness uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kidd seems to have recovered his senses.
Kidd looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Woo Kidd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kidd throws a poor cross that misses
and McGuinness counters with a huge left! Kidd is in big trouble! He's backing up but McGuinness isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Kidd from any more damage. A dominating finish by McGuinness!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Connor McGuinness!
A less than humble Connor McGuinness misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
